Our Story
As animal lovers, opening our own pet grooming and retail business is a natural fit. Several years ago with Ken's support, Chris left the world of analytics and decided to pursue a career in pet grooming. So began our journey, in that time our family changed but always seemed to grow. Its current make-up of Chris, Ken, four dogs and two cats is the perfect blend of sassy, loving, rambunctious, and silly. We love our fur babies so much that four of them even made it to the logo! Our dogs, Ella, Holly, Ginger and Jasmine were Ken's inspiration when he created our logo.
9 years later, we decide to embark on a new adventure and start our own business, which has been a desire of mine (Chris) for years. Until I discovered pet grooming, I didn't know how that dream would come to be, but through hard work, sacrifice, and determination we are opened our own business, 4 Hounds Gear and Grooming in Covington, KY where we call home. We truly believe in Covington and our ability to live, work, and play here. We look forward to providing Covington, the rest of Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati with quality, affordable grooming and pet supplies in the coming years. Our mission is simple: Treat your pet like our own. Whether it is while they are being groomed or curating quality, fun, and every day items that you and your pet need for a happy and healthy life. We aren't striving to be the biggest, just a small business here to serve our community and do what we love, be around animals.
Since opening our business, our sweet Jasmine, unexpectedly passed, but we have added a rambunctious French Bull Dog named Newton to the family. Stop by and see them and hopefully us soon. As we enter Year 2, we have much for which to be thankful. Most of all we are grateful for our customers human and furry. You make work enjoyable and made it possible for us to win such accolades as BEST of NKY 2024 - Pet Store and most recently Community Votes Winner in Pet Grooming, Pet Store, and Pet Food.
2025 has been an amazing year so far for 4 Hounds Gear and Grooming and we are looking to grow and offer more services to you our loyal customers. Our team has grown to include 2 additional groomers (Cassidy and Sidney) to provide your furry ones with the quality grooming that you've come to expect. Our retail specialist Laura and Shane are here to help you with your product questions and schedule your next grooming appointment. We are proud to announce that we won a 2025 Small Business Development Center Pace Setter Award and won for a 2nd year as 2025 Best of NKY - Pet Store.
As we approach the end of our second year of business, we have experienced growth and want to continue to provide our customers with quality services and products. We want to help make your life easier and to help you with your pet's needs. In September 2025, we are excited to announce out Pet Taxi Service! We all lead busy lives, but grooming is an important part of your pet's lives, so to help you, we will begin offering pick-up, drop off or both services within 15 miles of our Covington location. Simply book it when you schedule your grooming or you have that unexpected meeting or other appointment pop-up, call us ad we'll schedule it for you. As we went enter Year 3, we remember that it is because of our loyal customers that we are here and we appreciate you very much. We will continue to provide you with the quality you expect and work to continue providing you with innovative and helpful services and quality products for your dogs and cats.
